Google's kitchens apparently run through 55 gallons (208 litres) of olive oil each week as reported by their own Google Blog where jobs for two chefs are being floated. Google employees get free meals as a perk and some of them look delicious as described on the blog. Wired Magazine reported at the start of the year that the Google campus had 850 employees. I guess they have grown a bit since then but taking the February 2005 numbers it works out to about a 250 ml bottle for each employee each week. Of course there are visitors, employee growth etc but why quibble. It gives us a number to work with.
So how does the Goggle guzzle, sizzle and drizzle compare with the rest of the world? Greeks consume the most olive oil per capita, followed by Spaniards and Italians. Google employees come in at a very creditable fourth at 2.5 times the European Union Average and a massive 25 times the average for the USA.
Greece - 502 ml per week,
Spain 288 ml per week,
Italy 260 ml per week,
Google employees circa 245 ml per week,
Average for EU 103 ml per week,
Australia 23 ml per week
USA 11 ml per week.

So now you know Google doesn't run on this but olive oil.
